FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Industry Veteran Peter-Henry Schroeder Passes at 90

LOS ANGELES, CA — The entertainment industry mourns the loss of one of its own: Peter- Henry Schroeder, a respected actor, filmmaker, director, producer, recording artist, and mentor, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the Lake City VA Medical Center in Florida, surrounded by his loving family. He was 90.

Known for his long-standing dedication to the arts and his powerful presence both on-screen and on stage, Peter-Henry’s contributions spanned over seven decades. “I had a long and rich life, and I thank God for it,” he said—a fitting reflection for a man who truly lived doing what he loved.

Born Peter Henry Martin Griffith James Schroeder on January 2, 1935, in Syracuse, New York, he made Los Angeles his home for over 60 years. Following military service in Korea from 1953 to 1955—where he performed with the USO and saw Marilyn Monroe entertain the troops— Peter-Henry dove headfirst into the entertainment world.

A student of the Strasberg method, he studied under industry luminaries Lee and Paula Strasberg, attending classes with Dustin Hoffman and Jon Voight. He went on to work alongside legends such as Meryl Streep, Alan Alda, Charlton Heston, and Ben Affleck. Notable credits include The Seduction of Joe Tynan (1979), Star Trek: Enterprise (2001), and the Academy Award-winning Argo (2012).

Early in his career, he also found success as a recording artist with Capitol Records and Ascot, releasing the hit “Where’s the Girl for Me” and later “Memories of Marilyn”—a poignant nod to his time in Korea.

Peter-Henry founded PHS Productions and later the Actor/Artist Group Workshop, where he mentored hundreds of actors, continuing his legacy behind the scenes as a passionate teacher of the craft.

On stage, in his role as Kelly, Peter-Henry's award-winning production of Thomas Babe’s A Prayer for My Daughter (1982) will remain a masterclass in real theatre.

A quintessential Hollywood figure, his charisma often led to public cases of mistaken identity with Jack Nicholson—what his grandsons affectionately called “Jack Attacks.”

He is survived by his daughter Valerie Lynn Schroeder, son Peter Henry Schroeder II and daughter-in-law Felicia Cristiani Bass, grandsons Peter Henry Schroeder III and Jarrid Michael Schroeder, brother Carl Schroeder, sister Maria Curley, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.

He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Schroeder, several in-laws, and extended family, all of whom he cherished deeply.

A military service with full honors will take place at the VA National Cemetery in Los Angeles. Date and details forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, condolences may be shared in his memory through the Human Animal Life Foundation at https://humananimallife.org/peter-henry-schroeder/

For inquiries, visit his official website https://actorartist.com

Peter-Henry Schroeder will return to Los Angeles, as he wished. Not to work this time, but instead—leaving behind a legacy that has indelibly shaped generations of artists and storytellers.
